Savanna Springs LLC partners with private land owners, non-profit organizations, and like-minded companies to restore form and function to the watersheds that matter most to us. Our work in the Ozarks integrates applied science, natural channel design, keyline principles, and regenerative land management to build thriving native ecosystems that return ecological, recreational, and economic productivity to degraded landscapes.

Position Overview
  • The Restoration Intern will support field restoration efforts, monitoring / adaptive management of project sites, native nursery activities, and our regenerative farm
  • The position is ideal for students or recent graduates in fields related to environmental science, biology, ecology, forestry, horticulture, soils, or water resources
  • The position is field intensive, requires a great attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both in a team setting and independently
  • The position is a full-time, 40 hour per week commitment during the summer of 2026, with opportunities for part time employment during the winter and spring seasons
Responsibilities
  • Assist with stream and wetland restoration projects, including vegetation surveys, erosion control installation, and site preparation
  • Support GIS mapping, data entry, and field documentation (training provided)
  • Conduct native plant identification and help with native seeding and planting
  • Participate in monitoring efforts such as photo points, hydrological observations, and water quality checks
  • Assist with maintenance of field equipment, nursery stock, and restoration tools
  • Contribute to community engagement or volunteer events when applicable
Preferred Experience and Learning Opportunities
  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in an environmental related field
  • Strong passion for ecological restoration, river systems, and regenerative agriculture
  • Ability to perform outdoor fieldwork in variable conditions
  • Basic familiarity with native Ozark flora and fauna
  • Self-motivated, curious, conscientious, and detail-oriented
  • Experience with GIS, GPS, or environmental data collection
  • General competence with a tractor, skid steer, and chainsaw is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and transport
Wages and Hours
  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the positions are filled
  • Start date: May 2026 (if you are interested in part time work around school hours earlier, please let us know)
  • End date: September 2026
  • Typical work hours are 8AM to 4PM weekdays (may work 7AM to 3PM to avoid summer heat), with occasional weekend availability due to weather or field conditions
  • $15-$18 per hour depending on experience

The Martha Elizabeth Moore House is in Lincoln, AR, near Historic Cane Hill. The original building dates to pre-Civil War and was restored and preserved in 2023. Since then, work has begun to revive and expand a garden and outdoor space that highlights the history of the land, the value of the plants, and our role in preserving the ecosystem of the Ozarks. Please look over our vision for the future of the garden for a better understanding of what we are working towards. We are looking for someone with respect for the history of the land and a creative vision for the future of the garden.

Savanna Springs LLC is a Design/Build watershed restoration company, headquartered in the Ozarks of NW Arkansas. We work with farmers, ranchers, sportsmen, and land managers to restore form and function to the processes native to their specific landscape. We are establishing a native seed processing and storage facility and accompanying greenhouse and nursery. We would love a candidate with nursery and greenhouse experience to manage the day-to-day plant health as we develop the space.

This role will be split 50:50 between the Martha Elizabeth Moore Gardens and nursery management, although some weeks will be more focused on one or the other. We will be hiring an intern to work closely with the Garden/Nursery Manager on the daily garden management tasks at the Martha Elizabeth Moore House.

Responsibilities
  • Daily garden management (weeding, watering, pest/disease management)
  • Plan annual vegetable gardens and perennial future plantings
  • Delegating and teaching garden management tasks
  • Managing irrigation systems at the native plant nursery
  • Bi-weekly walks to survey plant disease and pest damage
  • Ensuring tools are accounted for and cared for, locking gates, and reporting any issues at the gardens and nursery
  • Documenting work through photographs, blogs, social media, or other creative outlets depending on interest
Preferred Experience and Learning Opportunities
  • Interest in native plant gardening and re-establishment
  • Fruit tree management
  • Ability to diagnose and remedy plant diseases and pests
  • Responsible herbicide application and invasive species management
  • Understanding of landscape architecture
  • Sustainable gardening and landscape practices
  • Vegetable crop knowledge
  • Working in unfavorable conditions
  • Tractor experience and small engine experience (mowers, weed eaters, chainsaw)
  • Project and deadline management
  • Independent and self-motivated work ethic
Wages and Hours
  • Start date between 3/1/2026 and 5/15/2026
  • Initial contract period will be until Fall 2026. If you enjoy the work and we feel you fit with the long-term goal of the nursery and garden we would love to discuss a more permanent position.

  • Compensation $20-$23 per hour depending on experience

We are seeking a candidate interested in learning about horticulture, botanical garden design, and native plant gardening. The intern will work under the garden manager for 50% of the week and independently for the rest of the week.

  • Documenting work through photographs, blogs, social media, pressed flowers, or other creative outlets depending on interest

  • Heavy lifting and manual labor associated with landscaping work

Wages and Hours
  • Start date between 3/1/2026 and 5/15/2026 (students are welcome to work part-time until the semester ends if desired)
  • End date approximately September 2026, depending on availability
  • 20-40 hours per week
  • Compensation $15-18 per hour depending on experience
